Finding Jupiter Deleted Scenes: Halloween

Tea: My second book got pushed back a likkle because it’s still cooking, and sharing these deleted scenes from Finding Jupiter gives me a reason to KEEP talking about my debut novel and I’m so GEEKED that y’all came to play!

SPOILERS ABOUND HERE. If you haven’t read Finding Jupiter, you might want to do that first before you continue. You have been warned.

In the earliest version of FJ, when it was called WHAT IF WE ARE THE STARS, it was a four-seasons love story that began in summer and culminated in the following spring. In that version, Jupiter and Orion broke up at the end of the summer. Orion went off to start his freshman year on swim team at Howard University and Jupiter returned to boarding school for her senior year. It was also set in the early 2000s when Youtube and video phones were new. I had so much fun writing scenes during Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas & New Years breaks and Valentine’s Day too. It was hard to see them go, but was the obvious best thing to make Finding Jupiter the gorgeous summer love story that it is.I’ll be sharing scenes with Newsletter Subscribers on corresponding holidays leading up to the Finding Jupiter paperback release March 5.

If you read Finding Jupiter, imagine that they couldn’t salvage the bones after that chaotic dinner scene and they broke up at the end of summer before Orion went off to swim for Howard and Jupiter went back for her senior year at boarding school. Let’s catch up with the heartbroken young lovers, shall we?

The scene excerpts are the young lovers’ first communication after the big dinner revelation after which Jupiter leaves the next day to be a camp counselor, the alternative break-up before Ray leaves for school, and Halloween night, which will be very familiar to everyone who read Finding Jupiter.
